Description
An extraordinary opportunity to shape Critical Care in Atlantic Canada.
Are you energized by the idea of helping build a critical care service that will elevate patient care across an entire region? At our brand-new, 17,000 sq. ft. specialty and emergency hospital in Halifax, that opportunity is both exciting and real. You would be joining an established criticalist who has already begun developing the foundation of this service, along with a highly collaborative medical team that includes internists, radiologists, dermatologist, anesthesiologist, ophthalmologist, surgeon, and a dedicated ER department - with new dentistry and cardiology services launching in 2026. We have also partnered with the Canadian Animal Blood Bank and have developed a teaching relationship the Atlantic Veterinary College, further enhancing the depth of care we can provide.
Halifax itself offers a truly exceptional lifestyle - an oceanfront community known for its welcoming culture, outstanding food scene, live music, and easy access to beaches, trails, and outdoor recreation. It also remains one of the rare Canadian cities where home ownership is still within reach.
Our hospital has been purposefully designed to support top-tier critical care. It features state-of-the-art operating theatres, a CT and MRI, and a dedicated ICU equipped with Snyder kennels and high-flow oxygen. You would be supported by ICU-focused RVTs who contribute to a culture of teamwork, learning, and excellence.
We are seeking a board-certified or residency-trained criticalist who is passionate about collaboration, motivated by service development, and excited to join our existing criticalist in expanding this department. The role includes participation in a fair rotation of weekend coverage, supported by a strong ER team and hospital-wide commitment to continuity of care.
This position offers a highly competitive base salary, a substantial signing and relocation incentive, and the opportunity to influence and grow a service that will meaningfully impact the veterinary landscape in Atlantic Canada.
