Description

The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Barrow Neurological Institute is seeking an outstanding physician trained in Radiation Oncology with an interest or expertise in malignancies and disorders of the central nervous system and head & neck.

Barrow Neurological Institute is the world's largest neurological disease treatment and research institution, committed to exceptional patient care, leading-edge research, and excellent educational programs. The interplay of research with regular patient care is at the core of everything we do.

Last year, Barrow Neurological Institute treated 49,950 unique patients, performed 5,539 neurological surgeries (the highest volume in the US), and had 8,334 admissions. The institute manages 306 clinical trials and 984 unique research studies and has recently become home to a $50 million Ivy Brain Tumor Center focused on phase 0/II clinical trials. The Radiation Oncology Department treats more than 1,000 new CNS patients each year. We use all forms of radiation, including IMRT, SBRT, SRS, brachytherapy, and intra-operative radiation. We were the first clinical site in the world to introduce the Zap-X radiosurgical device. Our physicians can choose Cyberknife, Gamma Knife, Zap-X, or linac-based treatment techniques to manage patients with complex conditions optimally. The department's clinical and research activities are supported by 30 neurologists, 26 neurosurgeons, 15 neuropsychologists, 30 neuroscientists, two EENT cancer surgeons, and over 100 Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurses.

Requirements

The candidate will be expected to teach in educational courses provided by the Department of Radiation Oncology for medical students, residents, and fellows and contribute to medical education efforts. Provision of excellent clinical care and academic contribution to the professional community is expected.

We intend to recruit at the Assistant or Associate rank; board certification (or eligibility for new graduates) is required. Applicants must be able to obtain licensure in Arizona without restriction.

Barrow Neurological Institute seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
