Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Dental Medicine Department is inviting applications for Experienced Clinicians interested in a compensated full-time position, which includes university benefits. The appointment is at Assistant Professor/Associate Professor level in the Department of Comprehensive Care. The successful candidate will serve as the Program Director for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program. The Director will be responsible for the overall management, development, and evaluation of the program to ensure its compliance with institutional and accreditation standards while maintaining excellence in education and patient care. The Director will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Comprehensive Care and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and affiliated institutions to achieve programmatic goals. The AEGD Program Director will serve as a leader in fostering a dynamic learning environment, overseeing both didactic and clinical aspects of resident training, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and promoting strategic growth of the program.
Requirements
The Program Director for Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program will provide both clinical and didactic instruction to AEGD residents, with emphasis on comprehensive treatment planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based patient care. This role carries primary responsibility for overseeing all aspects of the program’s daily operations, including scheduling, faculty assignments, clinic management, and resident mentorship. The Program Director will ensure ongoing compliance with all CODA accreditation standards, lead the preparation of required documentation, and coordinate activities for site visits and reports.
In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Program Director will work closely with faculty from multiple disciplines and institutional partners to deliver a high-quality, integrated educational experience for residents. Central to the role is the supervision, evaluation, and mentorship of residents, fostering their clinical growth and professional development.
Beyond the AEGD program, the successful candidate will contribute to the clinical education of predoctoral dental students as appropriate and will be encouraged to engage in scholarly activities, research, and quality improvement initiatives aligned with the program’s mission. Active service to the School of Dental Medicine, the University, and the broader dental profession is expected.
Minimum Qualifications for Each Candidate:
- Must have a DDS/DMD or equivalent degree and eligibility for licensure in Ohio.
- Completion of a CODA-accredited AEGD or General Practice Residency (GPR) program, and be eligible to serve as program director according to CODA.
- A minimum of three years of experience in dentistry.
- Clinical experience with digital dentistry (intraoral scanners, digital design, CAD/CAM milling, 3D printing, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications for Each Candidate:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical practice and dental education.
- Previous experience serving as an AEGD Program Director or in a similar leadership role
- Proficiency in the use of electronic health record systems, preferably axiUm.
- Documented scholarly activity related to dental implants and digital dentistry, including contributions such as peer-reviewed publications, oral or poster presentations, and work involving intraoral scanners, digital design, CAD/CAM milling, and 3D printing.
- Demonstrated experience in research and/or grant activities in the field of dental implants and digital dentistry, supported by scientific publications, presentations, and projects involving advanced digital tools and techniques (e.g., intraoral scanners, digital design, CAD/CAM milling, 3D printing).
- Active involvement (member and/or board member, etc.) in national/international professional organizations related to dental implants and digital dentistry.
